Fresh Veggies Farm Stand

The greater Monterey, CA area is called the Salad Bowl of America. As you head east from Monterey to Salinas, you pass from a temperate coastal zone to a hot climate with fertile soil. The produce around that area is amazing.

Fresh from the dirt.

Fresh Veggies Farm Stand – ProjectEdit365 – 17 Oct

The original photo had a dark and somewhat yellow cast. I cooled the temp and decreased the clarity and contrast. I also added a preset that gives it an overall less contrasty look (not sure what to call it). And I added a small vignette. Here’s the original:

I'm a photographer and homeschooler Dream = travel blogger. We move around every couple of years. That's fine, I love seeing different parts of our great country and the world. Great things: Jesus, traveling, photography, eating, sewing, scrapbooking, reading, shopping...not necessarily in that order.

    1. Gah, thank you! I looked at your pics of the fall colors at Afton State Park. So beautiful! I just moved down to Miami and we’re not going to experience fall down here. . .

If you already understand how shutter speed, ISO, and aperture work together, then I would suggest learning about depth of field next and playing with that a little bit. I’m beginning to learn about light and lighting more.

To get your pics to have the same feel as mine get Lightroom! I absolutely love it. I don’t have Photoshop (well, I have PS Elements 8, but I rarely use it), so Lightroom is what I use for all the edits I’ve done in this ProjectEdit365 that I’ve been doing. The blog that helped me navigate my way through learning it was Lightroomkillertips.com. And I still have a long way to go to being able to use it fully.

I’ll make a couple of comments on your photos. I see a couple that I really like and at least one that would look great in black and white. 🙂

      1. Thank you! I have both Photoshop and Lightroom, but have only ever used photoshop. What makes you pick lightroom over photoshop? Do you think it’s relatively self-explanatory?

      2. Lightroom was cheaper than Photoshop. 🙂 Also, as a beginner, it seemed less intimidating. I’m still using Lightroom 5 because I can’t make myself upgrade and do the monthly payments thing that Adobe has going on now. The creative cloud, I think it is? I keep telling myself when I have more time I’ll take a class on Photoshop and then spring for the subscription to Adobe CC. Maybe that’s what I’ll ask for for Christmas. . . 🙂

I do think Lightroom is self explanatory. It’s easy to play around with, and I love the presets. Go to http://www.thecoffeeshopblog.com. She has wonderful (free!) presets and actions.

      3. Thank you thank you thank you!! I will definitely be in touch as I continue to learn!

I was lucky to get the cloud, whatever it’s called, through work – otherwise I never would’ve splurged for it!
