The original photo was pretty decent but I wanted to give it some character. I increased the clarity and decreased the highlights and vibrance. I I gave it a lot of grain. Here’s the original:
Walk with the future in mind. Full of promise and mystery.
Magical Stroll – ProjectEdit365 – 22 Sep
Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that a terrible shot can be salvaged. This is why I love Lightroom. I greatly increased the exposure and contrast and decreased clarity. I also lightened the shadows, blacks, and increased the vibrance. I ran a preset and then cooled the temperature just a bit. I increased the preset’s vignette. The original:
Fall is here, but we have small bits of promises that spring will return.
The dogwood berries
The promise of things to come – ProjectEdit365 – 21 Sep
The original lacked good composition. I love dogwood trees and so I guess I just wanted to take a picture of a barren one. . . I knew the red berries would stand out in a photo, but I sure didn’t compose the shot very well. So, I cropped for that. I used an adjustment brush to sharpen the berries and keep the rest of the picture out of focus. I adjusted the green levels to get them to a hue I preferred. I then ran a preset over everything. Here’s the original:
My daughter wanted to do a photo shoot the other day. Who am I to say no.
She is so beautiful – on the inside and out.
Deep in thought – ProjectEdit365 – 20 Sep
The original was a little dark. I wanted to stylize this so I chose a preset and then used an adjustment brush to sharpen her eye. I used another adjustment brush to increase the contrast in her hair that the preset took out. The original:
I enjoy writing haikus. The only thing I know about them is 5-7-5, so forgive me if they’re not following any other standards. The original photograph was dark so I lightened it and increased the saturation. I decreased the contrast, but then added some back to the trees with an adjustment brush. Here’s the original:
Y’all, the man on the left hand side of the photo looks like Bernie Sanders.
He’s floating down the Potomac just like his dreams of becoming president. . .
Bernie in a Boat – ProjectEdit365 – 18 Sep
Presets are great when you know the look you’re wanting and you know you have a preset already that can get you there without having to manipulate all the sliders individually. I found a preset that I like and then went ahead and tweaked it a little to look more the way I wanted. I cropped to cut out the object on the right. Here is the original:
