Me: I’m really wanting a Coke right now.
Du: I’m guessing you’ve already had one today.
Me: Yes, but tonight’s an M&Ms and Coke night.
Du: Isn’t every night an M&Ms and Coke night?
Me: Whatever. Tonight they’re for comfort. Water just won’t do it.
Du: Use a straw.
Me: I want to listen to Tori Amos.

In other, less random news: If you’re in the market for cool Christmas music look no further. Last night Du downloaded X Christmas (various artists) and we’ve been rocking out to it. It’s edgy, not sappy. I do like traditional music, but you’ve got to admit it’s nice to hear a different rendition every once in a while. The only song I don’t like is Christmas Shoes. Not because the music doesn’t sound good. I just don’t care for songs written for the express intent of making you cry. And I don’t cry when I hear it. I think of the thousand times that story was forwarded to me before it became a song. Barf. Otherwise it’s a great album. It’s got a good beat…and you can dance to it.
And the story continues:
Du: If you want a Coke, then you have a Coke.
Vicki: I love you, (hugs and kisses Du).
Now that you have the whole story, doesn’t it sound better?
But that negates all the dry humor. I’m nothing if not dry. And besides, everybody knows you rock. I’ve got the t-shirt to prove it. I’m sure all your adoring fans (those who voted for the tree mug) imagined the rest of the story anyway. Come to bed.
I love the fact the story continues in the comments section! That is awesome and glad you enjoyed the m&m’s and coke! Ha ha
the christmas shoes song is revolting. it’s like the worst thing about christmas – the guarantee that i’ll have to hear it at least twice during the season. i carry ear plugs in my purse and i’m not afraid to use them.
And if you were OUT of Coke, I’d even bet he’d have popped into the car and went to buy some. (It’s no coincidence that the first two letters of Dude are Du, right?) 🙂
Now I have to find out more about that Christmas collection.
And suddenly, I’m thinking Cornflake Girl or Pretty Good Year might be interesting to hear …
I also hate Christmas Shoes. Bleh! I do love Christmas music though. I’ll have to check that one out. My annual favorite is Amy Grant’s Christmas album. Harry Connick Jr. has a new Christmas album out that I want to buy this year.
christmas shoes sucks, agreed. mothers die! merry christmas! wheeee! and i love when du plays along. of course i ‘du’, i voted for the tree mug.
I’m not a fan of that song either… in fact… I don’t like it for the same reason that I don’t like Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American” either. We’ve heard it far TOO much (gotta love how it’s become the motto for everything military now, or at least for the Army). Oh… and speaking of good Christmas music…. check out Relient K’s Christmas cd. It’s really fun!
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who likes Tori Amos! 🙂
The reason I don’t like the shoes song is because it has nothing to do with Christmas. It is about death and what is the point of mixing death with Christmas?(at least if it the mommy wanted a new pair of shoes and she’s dead song) Merry Christmas my Mom is dead…yea?
Tori Amos is much better than shoes. She pulls your heart out of your chest instead of your puke out of your gut. 🙂
I LOVE M&M’s! I will have to listen to the xmas music!!!
Thanks so much for coming by my place!!
B.E. Taylor has 2 awesome Christmas albums. Really, really awesome. Traditional songs, but done his way : ) He’s local to the pittsburgh area, but I think you can get his songs on itunes. And I’m sure you can google them. Or I can send you some : )
Love M&M’s , but prefer dr. pepper : ) Chocolate and caffiene….what a combo : )
I’m more of a Diet Dr. Pepper girl, but I can relate to the sentiments.
Christmas Shoes? I can’t stand it either. Hear it once, cry, and move on. That’s what it’s good for.
