Antiquated

I saw this sprinkler alarm on the side of a building in downtown Macon, Georgia one day a couple years ago. I took a picture of it. Pretty random, but I was taking pictures of any and everything.

But there’s something about old things. And in this one, I love that you can see the rust detail on the inside of the letters.

The original was too orange and the contrast was too flat. It was hard to see the detail.

Tulip Magnolia

Working with what you’ve got — I thought I was looking at a cherry tree with full cherry blossoms. I was in the Costco parking lot of all places. Another shopper told me it was a tulip magnolia. Still very pretty! I wish I would have composed this one a little better, but in the end, for the most part, this editing project is about working with what I’ve already got.

The original is below. You can see that I cloned out the lamp post, adjusted the colors, and added a bit of grain.

Lines

I’m loving the lines tonight. And black and white.

So many different lines! The more you look the more you see.

The original – your eye isn’t drawn to the lines. Taking away the color and upping the clarity and contrast helps.

Promise of Spring

Spring is around the corner. I’ve been told.

Remembering springs of old.

Gold Star

WWII – gold stars – honoring those Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice. Each star represents 100 fallen.

I took my Spark lens by LensBaby into DC for a minute today (I can’t wait for the weather to warm up a bit!). These stars are one of my favorite parts of any of the monuments and memorials in the city. God bless each of the families represented by these stars.
