Hidden cove

It’s not really hidden, it’s on the Road to Hana – there were people everywhere! But somehow I got a shot with barely anyone visible. The original was dull so I upped the contrast and clarity. I decreased the shadows and the highlights in the sky. I changed the temp towards the warm, but evenContinue reading “Hidden cove”

Iao Valley, shrouded in clouds

Iao Valley, during a summer afternoon rain. What I worked on with this picture was cloning man-made objects out. And rain spots on the lens. If you look at the original, you’ll see a parking lot with someone in a red top, a building on the left, a bare patch on the right (without muchContinue reading “Iao Valley, shrouded in clouds”

Reading the Palm

This palm tells me┬áthere may be holes in my future that I need to fill (with travel). I loved these palm leaves. I’m so glad I ended up getting a fairly close up of one. I’m pretty sure I knew I wanted to go black and white when I snapped the shot. I tried croppingContinue reading “Reading the Palm”

I took away theContinue reading “Painted Eucalyptus – an ant’s-eye view”

Changing the orientation from landscape to portrait helps, I think. I also worked with the settingsContinue reading “Painted Eucalyptus”

Strangled Palm

I took this picture because I was fascinated by the vines twisting and climbing their way up the palm tree. I knew it would look good in black and white. The lines are awesome, too. Twisty and curvy up the trunk and linear on the branches. The original wasn’t very impressive (other than the light,Continue reading “Strangled Palm”
