Punctuated thinking

So I wasn’t on Facebook at all today. Nor on Twitter. I still think in short little blurbs though. I bet none of my thoughts were over 140 characters. Throughout the day when things happened to me I would immediately formulate my short, pithy comment about the situation. Then I’d remember that I had nowhere to put it; just had to keep it to myself. What would I have tweeted about today?

  • I would have bemoaned the socialized health care system in which I take part.
  • I would have made snotty remarks about the screaming and crying going on here. By the kids, not me.
  • I would have lamented about my hormonal headache that was being exacerbated by the lack of caffeine.
  • I would have Facebooked about the White House Easter Egg Roll whose lottery-style application opens up soon.
  • I would have mentioned the irony in having a night and morning without kids and yet having lots of non-fun things to do in those hours.
  • I would have corrected myself to say that reading a newspaper and discussing current events with nursing home patients is actually fun.
  • I would have wondered why my grocery store doesn’t carry gnocchi.
  • I would have celebrated the fact that I love real girl talk with a friend.

I wonder if at the end of Lent, will I still be thinking stunted thoughts? Is this how reporters and media editors think trying to come up with the shortest yet most creative way to write a headline?

I'm a photographer and homeschooler Dream = travel blogger. We move around every couple of years. That's fine, I love seeing different parts of our great country and the world. Great things: Jesus, traveling, photography, eating, sewing, scrapbooking, reading, shopping...not necessarily in that order.

  1. I love that you think like that, cause when something happens I try to think, how would I word that on facebook 🙂 Yes I am addicted too. I am very glad you are still blogging though. I thought I was going to have to go 40 days without reading your great stuff! 🙂

    1. You should use Twitter as well! Great forum to get little thoughts out. I really like it though because you can follow all kinds of people/organizations, etc. I’m following not only friends and bloggers but organizations like the Smithsonian, Arlington Library, the city of Arlington, the zoo, etc., etc. There are political figures that tweet as well so they’re fun to read. Anyway, if you decide to get on there follow me (NotSoSAHM) and I’ll follow you once I’m back on!

  2. Funny you should mention gnocchi because last month I was on the hunt for it too. Went to four stores with no luck… I bet my fave Wegman’s has it but at that point, I was over it!

    1. It’s what Reagan wanted to eat for her birthday dinner (several days late) so I HAD to find it! Fortunately I found it at Safeway in their pasta aisle. The “grocery store” in Montgomery (and Warrensburg I think) carried it. It’s not that odd of an item is it? How do you fix yours? I like it with a gorgonzola sauce. Yum!

  3. you crack me up… I am still not “getting” twitter and facebook… I feel so lame. I use facebook just to connect with people to write them something, easier than finding their email…and twitter is just beyond me. I need a tutorial.

I thought of you the other day, Jasper was going to touch something hot and said “me no hot, me finger good. No touchies.” He was telling me about hurting it with smores…. so sad. But at least he knows!

    1. Aww, I hate that he has a bad memory of the S’mores, but at least he remembers so he won’t touch hot things again. We got one of those S’mores kits as a family Christmas gift. I think about our day together whenever we use it 🙂

    1. And it’s been very hard for me to NOT do more posts like that. I may have to give in though. I think what has stopped me is that I don’t write down most of those stunted thoughts throughout the day, so when I finally get on the computer I can’t remember anything pithy 🙂

    1. It’s the little things isn’t it 🙂 What’s annoying is that I don’t go looking for the food item until I really need it THAT WEEK. I’m not forward thinking enough to go searching before it before I know I’ll need it 😉

  4. I don’t use Twitter, but live overseas and find FB useful for keeping up with faroff family and friends. Unfortunately our net is poor, and I try to blame that, but I’m coming to believe that FB has given me up for Lent. :p

    1. Uh oh! I don’t think I could live very happily with bad internet service. I guess I’d survive and learn to deal, but there’d be a long and bad withdrawal process 🙂
