I love street photography. I’d love to do more of it, but that means that I have to get out into the streets and take pictures. My normal life sort of precludes that since I’m homeschooling much of the day and we don’t live very close to great street action. It’s something that I hopeContinue reading “Exhaustion”

New York or France?
We left Central Park, wandering around and heading towards FAO Schwarz (when it was still open). This building took our breath away. It’s at the corner of 58th and 7th. I had to google it tonight to get info on it. It’s called the Alwyn Court, and it was built in the early 1900s usingContinue reading “New York or France?”
Straightening buildings
Another beautiful fall day in Central Park. One of the awesome things Lightroom can do is straighten buildings. My 17-55mm lens can distort tall objects, and with buildings, that’s not a good thing. Liberty’s Torch
Visiting Ellis Island was a great history lesson. I don’t know that I have any direct ancestors who passed through here — so many families do. At first, I was working on editing the whole picture. Then I zoomed in to the torch for some reason and realized I wanted to focus on that. There’sContinue reading “Liberty’s Torch”
Macy’s Parade – Spider Man

Like pretty much all of my parade pics, this one was dark and lacking contrast. I increased the contrast, clarity, and lightened the shadows. I increased the grain on this one justContinue reading “Macy’s Parade – Spider Man”
Macy’s Parade – Lady Liberty’s Torch
Spreading her light and liberty throughout the parade route! Hey there, sailors! By the way, everyone we were standing around was nice. Maybe they were all tourists, but everyone kind of let everyone be. I love the grittier look for urban photography. I cropped again to straighten and increased the contrast and clarity. Doing thatContinue reading “Macy’s Parade – Lady Liberty’s Torch”
