We thought we were going to get lucky today…

We met some friends after church for what was supposed to be a quick lunch. Our friends had to get one of their daughters to a Girl Scout meeting and we needed to get home so I could go take more money from JoAnn’s.* They recommended Lucky’s because they had eaten there one Sunday recently and there was nobody in there and they got served like superquick and the food was good.
Sure! We’d try our luck.
After trying to prank our friends in the parking lot by honking annoyingly at them, only for it to turn out not to be them (oops, it was another lady from church), we get inside and get our table. The waiter took our drink orders pretty quickly and we placed our food orders without fail. All we had left to do was wait.
And wait.
And wait.
I didn’t realize how long it was taking because we were so into our conversations and we were noshing on the delicious rolls that make you full before you even get your meal which is why I’ve begun only ordering an appetizer or a dessert because I know I’m going to get full on the delicious bread. Anyway. Finally at an hour after placing our orders, after the rolls were long gone, we realized that our friends’ Girl Scout meeting was beginning without them and we had nothing to show except crumbs and empty drink glasses. The waiter came over with the manager in tow to explain to us that somehow our order got lost and the cook was just now beginning on it. But not to worry, he had some quesadillas on order for us so we could eat while we waited.
Um. No. We had already waited enough, thank you.
Quite frankly, I wasn’t that disappointed. Sure we sat there an hour but we had good conversation and free bread and Coke. And the manager gave us $10 gift cards to come back. We will. Probably with our friends. But we’ll make sure we have nothing to get to right afterwards.

*I did get lucky at JoAnn’s though. The other day using coupons and my teacher discount I spent $77 and saved $74. Today I went back and spent $30 something and saved just as much. I love “taking money” from companies!
