The original. I wish I would have composed the shot to get all of the front door – portrait instead of landscape. But, part of this challenge is working with what I’ve already taken. The original was definitely too dark. I decided to make it black and white to make the lines more dominant.

My dad loves cars.
His friends love cars.
And so, we got to ride in this Model A convertible with a rumble seat.

Cormorants are in competition with the seagulls to be the most common bird in the Monterey area. They are great divers and can go pretty deep.
This guy was by himself, resting on a rock near the pathway in Pacific Grove.
The original had poor use of negative space, so I cropped in and desaturated it.

‘Rugged’
is the best word to describe it.
Well, maybe ‘beautiful’.
The original was flat and lacked depth:

Sometimes you want to do something fun with an edit. I decided to make this look somewhat like a newspaper article. I googled the San Giovanni to figure out what type of boat it is. It is a “bottom trawl vessel” that fishes for groundfish.
The original didn’t have anything special going on. I think I liked the fact that there are sea lions resting on the floating tires.

My church has a photography group and the challenge for this past week was depth of field. I love going shallow so it was just a matter of finding a subject. Trader Joe’s flowers work just fine.
The original was dull and I wasn’t in love with the color of the petals. Thankfully, Lightroom has a solution for that – adjusting individual colors.
