Flower carpet – Pacific Grove

These are but a small glimpse into the carpet of flowers that blankets Pacific Grove in the springtime.

The original photo was so dull! I did several things, but one of the most important was increasing the intensity of the color of the flowers. Above is what they really look like in person!

Echium in Pacific Grove

The famous flowers of Pacific Grove are the pink ones that carpet the ground during the spring.

Those are nice.

I fell in love with these – purple echium

The original was a bit dull. I enhanced it so you could see the sun shining on the flowers. It makes them almost glow.

Gate

Part of this editing challenge is to work with what I’ve got. Making blah pictures at least usable for family photo books or blog posts. 🙂 Our travels are family vacations and I’m usually shooting on the fly, as we’re walking. Sometimes, when I get home and look at my shots, I’m left with pictures like this – half a gate and the house number. I wish I could have composed the shot better while I was there (another thing I need to challenge myself on), but this was what I got. I decided to turn it a little retro and dreamy.

Charleston has beautiful gates. NotSoSAHM

The original – I actually don’t mind the color temp, but I decided to play with it to see what I could come up with. I also needed to crop out the blue arm and dog ears.

Surprise!

As humans, we’re drawn to see faces in objects around us.

I’ll leave you with this:

The original wasn’t much different from the edited version. I increased the contrast and the exposure.

Wooded Bridge – ProjectEdit365 – 17 Apr

The bridge is on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate and it’s actually not too hard to find. What was hard was waiting for the moment with no people on it!

Fisherman’s Wharf Detail

Everyday life is filled with details. Too often we’re too preoccupied to notice.

There’s really no action in this photo, but there’s still so much to look at.

It would be a cool puzzle.

The original encompassed more of the buildings of the Wharf. I wanted to focus in on the boat and the awning.
