Set the world on fire

Another HDR type effect. The before and after differences are amazing! Most of those black shapes in the water are rocks. One or two of them are the heads of harbor seals! This is one of the amazing beaches along the coast between Pacific Grove and Asilomar.

Quirky Carmel

We loved exploring Carmel. And now that we don’t live there anymore, I realize we didn’t explore it near enough. Must. get. back.

Every street promised neat little surprises like the Tuck Box. Fairy tale!

Bixby Bridge

One of the most photographed landmarks along the Pacific Coast Highway. I don’t think I have a shot at a really great angle. This one was difficult to edit to my satisfaction. There’s still some sun flare lines that I didn’t want to clone/heal out due to how long they are (I work with Lightroom, not Photoshop). I think I must have been inside the car, behind the windshield. Sigh. ProjectEdit365 is a learning process – it doesn’t mean every shot is going to be awesome or perfect.

I do have great memories of driving this highway.

Into the Woods

Point Lobos is a great hike if you’re ever on the PCH and need to stretch your legs. So many different types of scenery – including fairy tale woods. The Wicked Witch or the Evil Queen or Maleficent is just behind the next bend. . .

It’s really very peaceful and calming in person. Nothing scary about it unless you’re afraid of heights and hundred foot drops.

Lone Cypress

The Monterey Cypress grows naturally only in the greater Monterey area. And this guy? He’s chosen a special and particularly precarious place to survive all by himself (although he gets help).

Not too far from here, a little farther north on 17-Mile Drive is Seal Rock. The animals inhabiting the rock are actually sea lions, but they don’t seem to mind the misnomer.

Oceans

Oceans – ProjectEdit365 – 04 Feb

I took this picture in Pacific Grove, California in February 2015. When I was editing it tonight it made me think of one of my favorite songs right now – Oceans by United. The very first line is “You call me out upon the waters”. Lately I’ve been getting the feeling that God is preparing us for some future service. He’s calling us out preparing to take us deeper than our feet could ever wander. Oh to be ready and willing.

With this edit, I used one of Matt Kloskowski’s HDR Presets for Lightroom.
