Hello, Fall!

I love the backlighting from the sun, and need to practice this more. I also love Ash’s pose.

Hello, Fall! – ProjectEdit365 – 11 Oct

The brightness of the sun can wash things out. I decreased the contrast, increased the clarity, and reduced the shadows a bit. I also reduced the exposure by a very small amount. I used an adjustment filter on their faces to sharpen them. I added a hint of a vignette. Here’s the original:

Fall in the Country

You never know what you’re going to find on a farm. Tractors and pumpkins: definitely. A gorgeous fence, field, and sunset: any day. But steps that lead to nothing? I chuckled at that one.

Fall in the Country – ProjectEdit365 – 10 Oct

The original wasn’t much different than the finished product. Less golden light and vibrance. I increased the clarity and slid the tint slider more towards the green. I also gave it a small vignette. I used two graduated filters. The first was on the sky to warm the temperature. The second was on the grass to decrease the contrast to give it a more vintage feel. Here’s the original:

Bridges over the Seine

One of the most romantic places.

Several bridges cross over the Seine with intricate brick and ironwork. Not So SAHM

Bridges over the Seine – ProjectEdit365 – 16 Aug

The original was pretty lopsided. I cropped to straighten and then made it black and white. I cloned out the lines in the upper right corner and used an adjustment brush to make the brick of the lower bridge have more contrast. I also lightened the shadows on everything. The original:

Church at the Burg

There’s a small church at Burg Lichtenberg. Reach it by the cobblestone pathway.

A small church sits on the grounds of Burg Lichtenberg in Germany. Not So SAHM

Church at the Burg – ProjectEdit365 – 06 Aug

The original was dark and flat. I warmed the whole picture, then I used a radial filter and adjustment filter to sharpen the cobblestones but soften the church and light around it. I used a graduated filter to darken the sky just a bit. Here’s the original:

Traben-Trarbach along the Moselle

When you think of German countryside, this is what comes to mind.

Fairy tale Traben-Trarbach along the Moselle River

Traben-Trarbach is an idyllic German town nestled along the Moselle River. Not So SAHM

Traben-Trarbach – ProjectEdit365 – 04 Aug

The original photo was beautiful, but a tad dim. I used a graduated filter to add some warmth and brightness to the sky and hill top, and another one to keep the river and houses cooler. I used an adjusted filter to sharpen the river and the field in the distance. I also cloned out a cell tower and some type of small tower next to it. The original:

Waikiki Moonrise

Aloha, Waikiki!

The moon rises over Waikiki and Oahu Not So SAHM

Waikiki Moonrise – ProjectEdit365 – 23 July

There wasn’t much to do – just intensify the colors and provide a little more contrast. I increased the contrast and clarity, vibrance and saturation. I had to decrease the noise quite a bit because I think I took this with my phone. I did a mixture of adjusting the highlights, shadows, blacks, and whites. I also added a slight vignette. Here’s the original:
