Air Force One

So, we didn’t exactly *meet* the president. BUT, we *did* see him climb out of Marine One and board Air Force One. Whether you’re on the same side of the political fence or not, seeing the care and safety taken for the president fills you with pride.

The original was flat. I increased the contrast and clarity and lightened the shadows. I decreased the vibrance just a little. Here’s the original:

U.S. Mail – ProjectEdit365 – 04 Oct

The original was lopsided and flat. I increased the contrast and clarity and lightened the shadows. I decreased the saturation of the red tail light. I used an adjustment brush around the background to decrease the clarity and put more focus on the mailbox. I finished by giving the picture some grain and a little vignette. The original:

Museum Silhouette

How long do we have to stay at the museum?

Our girls are really good about going out and doing adult things, like spending time at an art museum. There is some antsy-ness that goes on, but they’re learning how to either make things interesting or be patient while they die of boredom. Here, they were patient with Mommy as I asked them to pose in front of the window, knowing that I’d get a good silhouette. Well, somewhat patient.

Museum Silhouette – Project Edit 365 – 03 Oct

The original was just dark. I blew out the highlights coming in from the window and turned it into black and white. I used a small adjustment brush on my daughter’s face so her features would stand out just a little. Here’s the original:

Harper’s Ferry

Harper’s Ferry is a great little town to tour if you’re in the corner of VA and WV. Beautiful in the fall and always full of history!

The original photo was too yellow/orange. I decreased the vibrance, saturation, and clarity; and increased the contrast and lightened the shadows. I used an adjustment brush to sharpen up the words on the boxes and then added the slightest vignette. Here’s the original:

Air Force Memorial – ProjectEdit365 – 01 Oct

The Air Force Memorial is in Arlington, Virginia. You can see the Washington Monument in the background – across the Potomac. The original was drab and grainy. I just increased the saturation and decreased the noise. When I upped the saturation there was too much yellow on the metal so I decreased the saturation of the yellow. Oh, there was a plane that I cloned out. Here’s the original:

Forgotten

I took advantage of the rain to play with an umbrella and pavers that look pretty awesome when wet and bathed with warm light. I was actually playing with my hot shoe flash but didn’t like how it was lighting up the plastic. I shot this at f2.8, ISO 1000, at 1/30th of a second. Since nothing was moving, I didn’t really need the flash.

Forgotten – ProjectEdit365 – 30 Sep

The original was dark(er) with too much background. I cropped in and changed the white balance to get the look I wanted. I used adjustment filters to make the shiny pavers sharper and have more clarity. Here’s the original.
