So long, 2016!

We slayed 2016 and now it’s on to conquer 2017! . . . ugly Christmas sweaters and all!

Here’s wishing all my friends out there a safe and prosperous new year.

So long, 2016 – ProjectEdit365 – 31 Dec

Also, this IS NOT QUITE THE END of my Project Edit 365! I didn’t start the project until February, 2016, so I still have one more month of edits. December has been SO LONG. It’s been hard for me to find pictures that I’ve wanted to work on. That says something about me, though. I need to release those creative juices! I hope that I’ve taken lots of pictures in previous Januaries so I have a deep well of images to choose from.

Head over to the blog I created for this project, Project Edit 365, to see the original picture. Thanks!

Opening Gifts

They’ve always been so good about opening presents, sharing, and being thankful. I love this candid of them checking out some presents given to them during one of our visits to Georgia.

The original was busy and yellow so I cropped in, went black and white, and. . . head over to Project Edit 365 to see the original! Thanks!

Christmas Cookies

Merry Christmas! One of our other traditions of the holiday season is baking and decorating sugar cookies. The year this picture was taken, we made SO many! We had enough to give some to our mail carrier, the trash guys, the firemen down the street, and various friends in the neighborhood.

This year the cookies were a bust. We’ve moved down to Miami, and maybe it’s the change in humidity, but the cookies couldn’t hold their shape and my icing was too runny. They still tasted yummy though! Click over to Project Edit 365 to see what the original looked like and how I edited it. Thanks!

Magical lights

One of our traditions each year is to drive around with mugs of hot cocoa while listening to Christmas music, and look at Christmas lights. What is one of your traditions?

I didn’t change very much in the picture. But click over to Project Edit 365 to see what I did do and what the original looked like. Thanks!

She looks like me

This is so me as a kid, with a slightly different nose. There’s no denying whose child she is.  I didn’t have near the style though.

The original had so much going on. Head over ProjectEdit365 to see what I did to put the focus on my daughter instead of the surroundings. Thanks!

O Tannenbaum

warm lights on the tree

peace on earth good will to men

all is right tonight

There is so much that is not right in the world today/tonight. But for a little while, in front of the tree, peace reigns and minds rest easy. It’s almost hypnotic in the way that it lulls you to slow down and admire the glow.
