Accountability Update: Week 2

Overall I did–very well.

Here’s the score:

  • 4 servings of water a day — Thank you, Heather, for letting me know we are no longer required to get 8 servings of water a day. My goal for this coming week will still be six, since I do still need some type of liquids in my body. I believe I’ll keep the last week of April at 6 servings too.
  • Wash my face every night — This takes a surprisingly little amount of time. Why haven’t I been doing this all my life?
  • Eat healthy snacks in the day — In the day, yes. At night…I finished off the peanut M&Ms and then moved on to Hershey’s Kisses. I’m proud of myself for the healthy snacks in the day though. So this week I’m going to try to cut down on the chocolate…no I’m not.
  • Plan out the month on a general level — Already done. No need to do that this week.
  • Plan out this week in detail — Yes. It all managed to get done.
  • Clean 15 minutes everyday — Much better this week. 5 out of 7 days. I am not cleaning on the weekend. Who thinks that’s a good idea? My cleaning on Friday consisted of laundry. But since I only do laundry once a week, I called that good enough.
  • Bible reading every morning — 6 out of 7. Actually Saturday I read it at night. And day 7 isn’t over yet so there’s still time!
  • Exercise daily — I am happy to report that I exercised every freakin’ morning. During the week. Once again whowants to do this on a weekend day? Oh, sorry hubby… Crunches first and then 30 minutes of cardio. No stretching though. Must try to include this somehow before the shower, before the little ones wake up. I am not getting up any earlier.
  • Read to Ashlyn everyday — 4 out of 7 days. Not sure what happened here. Other than time slipped by. I need to put some books in with her toys in the living room. Why aren’t they there now?
  • Have Reagan read to me every school day — Yes. And she’s so good. When did this happen?
  • Various other boring and sundry things — Much better at those this week.

Knowing that I’m going to be tracking my progress here for all two of you (and all the imaginary friends I write for) to read has made me get through this week continuing on my quest to be a better steward of my temple. And my house. Thank you for your support.

Pray for me this week that I continue my exercise routine everyday!!

You know what?…

Polygamists in Texas

I just had to comment on the weirdness of this. A story is always more poignant when you know someone in it, or you’ve been to where it’s happening.

400+ Kids Taken From Polygamist Compound

An AP News Story published on 07 April 2008

This story hits me on two different levels.

One:

God did not call us to seclude ourselves. We are to be a lamp on a hill drawing others to ourselves. We are specifically commanded to go and make disciples of all nations…This cannot be done either in a monastery or a compound. This is not what Christianity is about.

Two:

I’ve lived in San Angelo and even attended ASU for a semester. I’ve been to Fort Concho where the girls (actually over 400 children and around 150 mothers) are being “housed” right now. I can’t imagine having to call Fort Concho a home (but Lord, it’s a beginning). This cult (It is a cult. They hold people captive: women and girls and boys; refusing to give them a glimpse of the outside world. Refusing to give them a chance to exercise their free will that God gave all of us and wants us to use. That is a cult) wasn’t in the San Angelo area when I lived there. There is so much open land out there though. Who knows what all is going on out there.

It is very hard for me right now to pray for grace for these perverts and not call for God’s immediate vengeance. Vengeance is His, but we aren’t to pray for it for our enemies. I do have a hard time with that. Join me in praying for the peace, comfort and mental well-being of all the victims here and for the grace of God to fall on the instigators; enough for them to feel shameful and truly repent.

Accountability Update: Week 1

Overall I did–mediocre.

Here’s the score:

  • 2 servings of water a day — Yes. I managed to do this everyday. Cosmic, huh.
  • Wash my face every night — Yes. Even on the night I went to bed when it was morning.
  • Eat healthy snacks in the day — For the most part. I still munched on Peanut M&Ms and Reagan’s graham cracker/M&M mosaic. But if I thought about scrounging around for something to eat I made myself eat raisins or carrots. Mind you that only happened twice. Remember, I’d rather not eat.
  • Plan out the month on a general level — Yes. Nunya.
  • Plan out the weeks in detail — Maybe. I knew what I had to do and I was on time for everything…except for watching Beth tonight so Amy could go to life group. I was absorbed in sorting clothes and didn’t hear the phone or the doorbell. Bad friend.
  • Clean 15 minutes everyday — Oops. The house isn’t trashed. It’s still picked up and the kitchen is clean. But I only actually did 15 minutes of cleaning one day. I swear this week was busier than normal. I swear.
  • Bible reading every morning — 4 out of 7. Yikes. The three mornings I didn’t read was because I woke up and immediately had to start dealing with the girls. One of those mornings was the night I only got 3 hours of sleep. Another morning was after the night after the all-nighter. I was catching up on sleep. And the third morning was this morning. Also catching up on sleep and rushing to get ready for church. We’re not used to time limits on getting ready around here.
  • Exercise daily — I’m getting worse here. Monday morning was the only morning when I got up, did some crunches and then exercised for almost 30 minutes. Tuesday morning I did some crunches. Then I started staying up later and later…Like I said, this week was super busy, so exercising in the middle of the day just didn’t happen. Leave me alone. No, don’t leave me alone. I need the accountability.
  • Read to Ashlyn everyday — 5 out of 7 days. Not bad.
  • Have Reagan read to me everyday — Yes. On the school days. I’m rewriting that goal to say “have Reagan read to me every school day”.
  • Various other boring and sundry things — Uhh, what were they? Those I need to work on.

Maybe a big piece of poster board and little gold stars will help me do better.

Pray for me this week. I’ve got to drink 4 servings of water a day. I’m going to either be floating or peeing all day.
